Attracting Film Production to Small Town Ontario

This initiative, generously supported by the Ontario Creates, Community Futures South Georgian Bay and Nottawasaga Futures, delves into the essential elements required to attract film productions to municipalities with populations of 30,000 or less. It proposes a strategic framework that outlines both immediate and long-term approaches to foster a conducive environment for film projects.

VIVA Stage

In partnership with Georgian College with support from the Canada Council for the Arts, the SGBMA is currently undertaking a research and development project to explore the feasibility of establishing a purpose-built VIVA (Virtual Interactive Volume for the Arts) Stage and studio in our region.

ARTchive: Digital Archive for Rural Communities is actively conducting consulting meetings and developing a proof of concept to create a free digital archive system for rural Ontario-based artists,

In this initial phase of the project, we are incorporating and testing a tape-based archive data management system while studying and implementing the best practices in digital archiving. Furthermore, we are engaging in consultations with rural-based archives located in Grey, Bruce, and Simcoe counties of Ontario to ensure that the project meets the specific needs and challenges faced by rural communities.

VAMA: Virtual Augmented Media Arts

VAMA Virtual and Augmented Media Arts is a dynamic 7-month research and development project that aims to explore and innovate in the realm of augmented reality and virtual reality for media arts production. Our primary focus is on testing and prototyping new methods using affordable freeware and subscription-based software solutions.
